Rules and Regulations

The following is intended to ensure that all the families we serve are treated with an equal level of respect and consideration for their grief. The following standards are established to protect the long-term interest of our families and our employees. Your cooperation and understanding will be appreciated by all who visit and work for our cemetery.

  • Fresh cut flowers are permitted at all times provided that they are in a plastic grave vase (usually green with 3-inch spike) and must be placed within 12 inches at the front of a Memorial. Glass vases or containers are not permitted for safety reasons and will be removed. Flowers left in cellophane sleeves will be removed.

  • Annual plantings may be planted in the front 12 inches of a Memorial and may not exceed the width of a Memorial. Plantings that have died, been eaten or are in the way of lawn maintenance will be removed.  Each family’s plot is designated by a Memorial. Therefore, fencing or other structural enclosures are not needed or permitted to delineate a family’s space. Enclosures can create a maintenance hinderance.

  • American flags, Military service, and Fire Department flags are permitted from Memorial Day until Flag Day. Such flags that are installed in bronze flag holders will be removed after Veterans Day. Flag holders may be ordered from our website.

  • We ask that families refrain from all artificial decorations beyond flags and a single silk flower bouquet. These items (from balloons to solar lights and other manufactured items) hinder the maintenance of the grounds and add significantly to our disposal expense.

  • Christmas wreaths/ grave blankets may be placed after Thanksgiving and will be removed after January 6th as weather and snowfall permit. Wreath sale information is on the WRCC website. Orders will be taken after October 1st each year.

  • Palm Crosses may be placed up to two weeks prior to Palm Sunday and will be removed one week after Easter each year.

  • Candles and eternity lights are never permitted.

  • Dogs are not allowed in the cemetery at any time by State Ordinance #52-192-1.

  • WRCC does not have a sprinkler system. However, the water spigots will be available after all danger of frost is gone in the Spring until October 31.

Please remember that our cemetery grounds are part of nature and as such we must face all the difficulties nature and the weather can create. Rain, wind, snow, geese, deer and soil shifting can pose some challenges. We cannot prevent the problems nature can cause but we will respond as promptly as possible to rectify problems as they arise.
